The last few months have been nothing short of inspiring here at the Center for Suicide Awareness. From new launches and partnerships to trainings, conferences, and community outreach, our team has been working tirelessly to promote positive mental health and suicide prevention across Wisconsin and beyond.
Growth and New Beginnings
- We’re excited to share that our Etsy Shop is officially open, offering meaningful items that not only spread awareness but also directly support our mission. Along with that, we recently launched a new and updated website, designed to make resources and connections more accessible to those who need them most.
- We also welcomed a bright and talented intern from UW Oshkosh, who has been making a huge impact by elevating our presence on TikTok. We’re thrilled to see more young voices contributing to this important movement.
Expanding Our Impact
This summer has been filled with opportunities to bring awareness and resources to diverse communities:
- š® We distributed Nintendo Switch consoles to School Resource Officers, giving them creative ways to positively engage with students.
- š We provided trainings at Kimberly High School for new teachers, led EAP training, and presented at the Harm Reduction Conference and Frontline Worker MRT.
- š We joined community events like Menasha Night Out, W. Metro Night Out, and the Wisconsin Police Chiefs Conference, connecting with families and leaders on the front lines.
- š¤ We deepened partnerships, working with the Red Cross on Disaster Response HOPE Kits and distributing Warrior Response Tool Kits through our close collaboration with Fox Valley Warrior Aid Alliance.
- šŖ We had the honor of spending a powerful day with Team Rubicon in Milwaukee, reinforcing our shared commitment to service and resilience.
- š« At Fox Valley Technical College, we hosted a resource table showcasing tools for positive mental health and student well-being.
What’s Next
Even with so much accomplished, our work is far from done. The next two weeks are packed with more opportunities to connect and make an impact:
- š This week, we’ll be at the 29th Annual Wisconsin Crisis Intervention Conference (2025) in Wisconsin Dells, an event attended by a wide range of professionals involved in crisis intervention, including consumers and family members, administrators, front-line workers, court personnel, emergency services, hospital staff, jail staff, law enforcement, mental health professionals, nurses, school administrators, social workers, and substance use professionals.
- Our very own Barb Bigalke will also be presenting her session, “Hunting for the Good” — a powerful training that helps participants recognize positivity and practice resilience even in the most challenging times.
- š On Saturday, you’ll find us at the Kaukauna Block Party —a fun-filled community celebration where we’ll continue spreading hope and raising awareness.
- š« Next week, we’ll be spending time with Kaukauna High School students, encouraging resilience, compassion, and positive mental health practices.
Moving Forward Together
Every event, training, and conversation is a step toward a stronger, more resilient community. Suicide prevention is not just a cause we champion during Suicide Prevention Month—it’s the heart of everything we do, every single day.
We are grateful for our partners, supporters, and community members who stand beside us. Together, we’re making a difference. š
